1989.
Steve Green and Collin McCullough decided to open a small funky West
Indian bar to share drinks and good times with
friends, family and Oh yes, if visitors to the Island arrived they
too would be very welcome. And so Mad Dog was born. Mad Dog became the
place to “hang”, chill out, look at the beautiful vista and the sea beyond.
There was no kitchen but good drinks and sandwiches, all at affordable
prices. The years continued. Mad Dog was THE place to come for delicious
blended drinks, the famous 3 decker BLT sandwich and special pina coladas.
It truly did develop an International reputation. One could see Mad Dog
hats and T-shirts walk down the streets of Paris, London, New York City
After a few years Steve took over the total management until…..VOILA….there
was a new opportunity . The lease on Mad Dog became available. Rose Giacinto, with a proven 20 year Virgin Gorda track record in the restaurant
business , with the existing businesses of Chez Bamboo and Bath & Turtle
and Inge Judd , a long time resident of the British Virgin Islands with
over 20 years of corporate executive recruitment as business experience
decided Mad Dog would be a wonderful and happy joint venture. January
2009 was the OPENING DAY. Still no kitchen, still a small funky West
Indian bar, still really great sandwiches, good drinks. The menu has
expanded a bit, delicious salads, some home made desserts, the new home
of THE RED DOG, a delicious and beautiful blended drink (there is
no such thing as one) still all at affordable prices. Mad Dog continues
to be the place to meet friends and family, get a feeling of the laid
back Caribbean life style, hang out with a drink in the hammock. The
atmosphere is warm, friendly and welcoming. Come, you’ll eat and drink
well and have a good time !.
